Background: Not long after the groundbreaking voyage of the since-destroyed CSA Nevada Sith, and the careful examination of the decommissioned CSA Star Witch, CSA scientists and engineers developed a functional jump engine prototype. This prototype was massive and power-hungry, and no current ship in service could mount it. Therefore a new build was commissioned, and this ship was christened the CSA Orion. Designed from the beginning as both a test platform for the jump engine and for exploratory duties, she is outfitted with a modest array of sensors and survey equipment, as well as a reconfigurable mission pallet, capable of being mounted with a wide variety of experiments. Since then, Orion has performed admirably in all her duties, which have mainly centered around surveying new locations for jumpgates and acting as a courier when larger ships would be impractical to use, such as in the Devil's Star or Star's End run.
