Background: Centennial is of the same class as the ill-fated CSA Celebration (and, in fact, a draft has been written up to officially rename this class 'Celebration'). The construction plans were purchased from the same architects who designed the CY-80 Franklin courier. It is a simple, straightforward ship, able to reach orbit and modest interplanetary distances on its own, certainly enough to reach a jumpgate. In fact, next to the CY-80 and PBH-100 Glaive, it is one of the smallest ships able to routinely carry out extended interstellar journeys via jumpgate. (As a matter of course, by definition all ships can use jumpgates, though small craft are usually not entirely suited to longer journeys through C-space. There is nothing to prevent them from making the attempt, however; this only means that the CY-80, CY-1150, and Glaive are designed for extended trips.) It is envisioned in the future that the CY-1150 class, with some upgrades, will become the standard light freighter in Cygnus, and production of it and the CY-80 is being looked upon as a possible source of future income.
