CSA Jennifer Brisby

Description: Armored scout, early warning/control, reconnaissance ship.

Background: The Brisby, fondly known as the "Mrs. B", is indeed named after the same Mrs. Frisby/Brisby so well-known in the Domain. Brisby was originally of the Morden-class, the same class as the infamous Legend Seeker. Following the initial experiments with jump engines, she was converted to the specs for the new Bricriu-class, remaining an armored scout. Too small to mount a jump engine, ships of the Bricriu class rely on capital ships to open jump points for interstellar travel. They also rely heavily on stealth and maneuverability to survive. They do not enter combat directly; they serve best by first finding the enemy, then providing electronic warfare support. They are also the preferred spaceborne early warning and control craft, as opposed to the (unproduced) D-10E. The Jennifer Brisby is one of the more illustrious ships in the CSA fleet, with a mixed crew of scouts, pilots, sensor technicians, gunners, and flight engineers; she has carried additional personnel in the form of field scientists and marines. In addition, the Brisby was critical to the survival of CSA forces during the attack on Delphi Station while it was in the hands of Toulon.
